Ondrej Palat, Blake Coleman and Brayden Point all scored for Tampa Bay, while Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 20 shots he faced to lead the Lightning to a 3-0 win over the Stars at Amalie Arena on Thursday night.
The shutout is the Vasilevskiy's fifth of the season, with three of those coming against Dallas.
The game-winning goal came all the way back in the first, with Palat forcing a turnover deep in the Stars' defensive zone. Blake Comeau's breakout pass was slightly deflected, giving Palat the opportunity to poke the puck free from Jamie Oleksiak before snapping a wrist shot past Jake Oettinger to give Tampa Bay the lead.
The Bolts got an insurance goal midway through the third, with Coleman converting on a penalty shot. With the Stars on a power play, Coleman stripped John Klingberg in the neutral zone and came in alone on Oettinger but was tripped up on the breakaway by the Dallas defenseman. The refs awarded Coleman a penalty shot, and he cashed in, beating Oettinger with a quick shot high to the glove side.
Point iced the game with less than 90 seconds to play, scoring into an empty net.
Vasilevskiy was at his best in the second period, stopping all 12 shots Dallas threw his way. Outside of the second, the Bolts were sharp in front in front of their goaltender, holding the Stars to only eight combined shots on goal in the first and third periods.
Tampa Bay has now won four-straight games. The win also helps the Bolts keep pace with division-leading Carolina, who defeated Detroit on Thursday.
