Syracuse, N.Y. -- Behind a phenomenal outing from its pitching staff, the Syracuse Mets in their black jerseys shutout the Buffalo Bisons, winning 3-0 on Saturday night at NBT Bank Stadium while holding the Bisons to just one hit.

Syracuse starting pitcher Adam Oller followed a terrific Triple-A debut last week in Worcester with another scoreless outing on Saturday. The 26-year-old went five innings, not allowing a run and giving up just one hit while walking four and striking out five. Dating back to his last two starts with Double-A Binghamton, Oller has delivered 24 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

Syracuse (37-55) scored all the game’s runs in the fourth inning, and they all came via the home run ball. Wilfredo Tovar hit a one-out solo shot to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Then, David Thompson made it back-to-back homers to put the Mets ahead 2-0. After Josh Reddick struck out, Cheslor Cuthbert made it three home runs in the inning for Syracuse with a homer of his own, extending the Syracuse lead to 3-0.

Buffalo (55-36) had an opportunity to bring some runs home in top of the fifth but failed to capitalize against Oller. Cullen Large worked a leadoff walk. After Christian Colón grounded into a fielder’s choice, Juan Graterol flied out. Nash Knight followed with a walk, and Forrest Wall was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Oller then struck out Logan Warmoth for the final out of the frame as the Bisons left the bases loaded.

Buffalo had another golden opportunity in the seventh, loading the bases with no outs. Large walked, and then Colón and Graterol both were hit by pitches. Franklyn Kilomé then came out of the bullpen for Syracuse. The right-hander got Knight to fly out and then struck out both Wall and Warmoth to end the inning, getting the Mets out of the frame unscathed and with Syracuse’s 3-0 lead intact.

With the Mets still leading, 3-0, in the top of the ninth, Tom Hackimer came out of the bullpen for Syracuse. He struck out Large on three pitches to start the frame, but then he walked Colón and hit Graterol to put two runners on for Buffalo. After striking out Knight, Hackimer walked Wall to load the bases and send the go-ahead run to the plate in Warmoth. On a 1-2 pitch, Hackimer struck out Warmoth swinging to end the game and earn his fourth save of the season. In seven outings with Syracuse, Hackimer has yet to allow a run or a hit.

Syracuse clinched the series with the win, and the Mets have now won seven of their last nine series. The Mets will look to stay hot Sunday in the series finale when right-hander Jesús Reyes faces Buffalo right-hander Casey Lawrence. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. from NBT Bank Stadium.
