The Modesto Nuts (1-0) defeated the Stockton Ports (0-1) to start the 2021 season after an entire year absent from the diamond.

Nuts catcher Matt Scheffler delivered two-thirds of the runs, courtesy of a two-run homer in the second inning.

Relief pitcher Luis Curvelo was given the winning decision after two innings pitched with one walk, two strikeouts, and no hits.

Amid being blanked by their neighbors to the south, the Ports only mustered two runners in scoring position during Tuesday night’s match-up.
