Local roundup: Red Raiders blank Haverhill - Lowell Sun

The Lowell High boys volleyball team stormed to a 3-0 victory over Haverhill Monday afternoon.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.

Senior Buh Reh dished out 24 assists and had three blocks for Lowell (2-0), while classmates Rowan Galloni had 16 digs and Pagnar Meas added 10 kills. Junior Mustafa Salih had six blocks and senior Tyler Nguyen added 12 digs and seven kills.

Baseball

North Middlesex 8, Wayland 6: Brisean Evicci (three hits), Sean Hayward, Michael Arbuckle, Justin Marr (two hits) and Dillon Troiano all drove in runs for the Patriots. Michael Archambault went the distance to earn the win, striking out five and giving up eight hits.

Softball

Lowell 2, Haverhill 0: Giana LaCedra tossed a one-hitter, striking out 17, while also chipping a pair of hits of her own. Mia Ly and Kay Laliberty each notched RBIs.

Bedford 5, Bishop Guertin 2: Maddy Bowen blasted a solo homer for the Cardinals and Petra Bajdek scored on a fielder’s choice in defeat.

Tyngsborough 12, Quabbin 0: Ella Beaulieu struck out 11 and scattered three hits over five innings.

Offensively, Jayden Kelly went 3-for-3 with a double,  Meghan Culver went 2-for-3 and Samantha Puma went 2-for-3 with a double.

Groton-Dunstable 25, Algonquin 6: Freshman Lauren Haggerty went the distance and went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored three runs. Freshman Erin Ciarfella went 5-for-5 with two home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored, while classmate McKenna Vesty was 3-for-4 and scored five runs. Maya Barros added a two-run double for the Crusaders (2-1).

Boys lacrosse

North Middlesex 10, Littleton 4: Shaun Highley had five goals and two assists, while Will McCarthy (four assists), Joe Williams (assist), TJ Murphy (assist) Mason Shultz (assist) and Joe Polito also scored. Luke McClean made 10 saves to earn the win.

Lowell Catholic 16, Nashoba Tech 5: Brendan Sullivan (two assists), Danny Kierce (two assists) and Colin King each recorded hat tricks for the Crusaders. Sean King (assist) and Patrick Drew (two assists) each added a pair goals and Justin Roche finished with a goal and three assists.

Connor Callahan and defenseman Nick Sawyer each had a goal in the victory.

Girls lacrosse

Greater Lowell 10, Whittier Tech 6: Madison Maybury led Greater Lowell (2-0) with three goals, while Mykaela Correia and Anna Hastie each scored twice. Kaelynn Tanner, Ariana Hudson and Athenna Mao potted single goals for the Gryphons and Alanis Cintron made five saves to secure the win.

Pelham 12, ConVal 10: Jordyn Galgay netted eight goals in the win, while Sydney Nutter had a pair. Brianna Coombs and Taylor Galgay each scored once and Lizzy Hodge had 12 saves for Pelham (4-3).

Alvirne 13, Memorial West 5: Hailey Rhamalhinho netted nine goals in the win, while Zaira O’Leary turned aside 12 shots. Halle Miller scored twice and Maddy Nicolosi and Charlotte Moloney each had a single goal.

Boys tennis

Chelmsford 3, Central Catholic 2: Chelmsford’s Andrew Peterson topped Arnav Lele, 6-1, 6-1, in third singles and the first doubles team of Michael Dechiara and Ben Larsen and the second doubles duo of Sammy Keltrani and David Barber also won for the Lions.

Central Catholic’s Zach Channen and Dalton Dow picked up singles wins.

Bedford 8, Bishop Guertin 1: Ryan Wallat and Rizvan Bhattarai earned a doubles victory for Bishop Guertin.

Girls tennis

Tyngsboro 5, Clinton 0: Natalie Barros, Sophia Lundberg and Jessica Hammerstone each won their singles matches for the Tigers (1-0). The first doubles team of Mia Kilmon and Mia Pappas and the second doubles tandem of Atena Jasim and Meshwa Patel were also victorious.

Haverhill 3, Lowell 2: Darsh Patel and Aimee Carrabis earned wins for Lowell (0-2).

Hudson 5, North Middlesex 0: The loss drops the Patriots to 0-2.

Girls golf

Notre Dame Academy 8, Saugus 0: Leading the way for NDA with medalist honors was Caroline Hanson (49), pacing the team in its first-ever win. Also playing well for the Lancers (1-1) were Molly Shanahan, Elizabeth Beauregard, Mya Shanahan, Kate McNamee, Halianna Gacek, Ella Hanson and Lilly Golden.

Volleyball

Andover 3, Billerica 1: Set scores were 12-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-16.

Ankeet Patel led Billerica with 12 kills, while Saketh Mynampati played strong defense from the back row and added nine service points.
