The Cicero-North Syracuse girls soccer team got goals from Emily Rio and Ashley Evans and a stellar defensive effort to blank Baldwinsville, 2-0, in a a SCAC league contest.
The win was the sixth in a row for the Northstars and avenged a 2-0 loss to Baldwinsville on Oct. 15.
“Baldwinsville had the better run of play tonight, but the CNS defenders played well and Avery Byrnes, our goalkeeper, had another outstanding performance,” said Cicero-North Syracuse coach Jeremy Lenchert. “We didn’t have as many chances, but Emily Rio and Ashley Evans found the net and we were able to come out of there with a 2-0 victory.”
Avery Byrnes finished with 12 saves as the Northstars defense recorded its sixth shutout of the season.
Cicero-North Syracuse (8-2-1) closes out its season Friday with a non-league game at Skaneateles.
Baldwinsville closes out its season at 8-4.

Section III leading scorer Rory Richard added two goals and one assists to overall points to lead the Golden Knights (6-1) to the win. Richard now has 21 goals and six assists on the year.
Homer 3, Onondaga 2
Caitlin McCloy scored what proved to be the game-winning goal early in the second half to lead the Trojans (5-1) to victory. Gracie Patriarco and Edie Russo also scored for Homer.
Boys Soccer
Skaneateles 2, Cicero-North Syracuse 0
Nick Wamp and Andrew Moss each scored a goal for the Lakers (7-3) in the non-league win.
Clinton 5, Westmoreland/Oriskany 1
Seamus Gale scored a three-goal hat trick lead the Warriors to their eighth win of the season. Gale now has nine goals on the season. Danny Frank handed out three assists, giving him six for the year. Dylan Gifford and Cooper Siddon also scored for Clinton (8-2).
Fabius-Pompey 3, Manlius Pebble Hill 1
Sam Taylor scored two goals for the Falcons (4-3). Taylor now has eight goals on the season.
Field Hockey
Liverpool 6, Auburn 1
Six different Warriors scored in the win: Katia Flavin, Chloe Muller, Riley Techmanski, Abigail Kozikoski and Caitlyn Guilfoil, while Emily Cerio had two assists in the win.
