Another game, another win for the Worthington High School boys soccer team.
The Trojans improved to 9-0 on the season Tuesday with a 12-0 victory over the Waseca Bluejays. The offense clicked, and so did the defense. Worthington has allowed just three goals this season.
Also Tuesday, host Waseca defeated the WHS girls soccer team, 6-0.
Boys
Worthington 12, Waseca 0
WORTHINGTON -- Six Trojans scored, and five of them had two goals each.
Edgar Carrillo, Jonathan Banegas, Dalen Gonzalez, Cristian Tomas and Alan Flores all scored twice. Single goals were scored by Isaiah Noble and Buoy Lia. Head coach Juan Flores was pleased that the team played consistently well in both halves, including the players off the bench.
“It was a good game for us,” he said. “I think we took control of the game. We played the way we wanted to play. We played fast and our passing was almost perfect. … We didn’t give them time to breathe.”
The WHS boys next perform Thursday at St. Peter, a team they defeated 7-1 in Worthington earlier this season.

Girls
Waseca 6, Worthington 0
WASECA -- Five first period goals helped Waseca defeat the Worthington girls.
Samantha Azure scored the first two goals and Katrina Fuller scored the next two. Anna Blatti also scored for the home team.
“Waseca came out strong and made great crosses and runs up the middle,” said Trojans head coach Emily Ahlquist. “We were not playing at full strength, with injuries. But the girls fought hard and really were connecting their passes better than last night (Monday against visiting Marshall, a 1-0 MHS victory). We had some good runs up the field but were never able to make a dangerous shot on net.”
Waseca scored its sixth goal 10 minutes into the second half, but the Trojans kept them from scoring again.
