PHILADELPHIA – The Memphis Tigers picked up their first American Athletic Conference win of the season Wednesday night in Philadelphia, topping Temple, 2-0.
 
Memphis improves to 2-6-1 (1-2-0 AAC) on the year, and Temple falls to 1-4-2 (0-3-0 AAC).
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Tigers got off on the right foot, with Toby McCallum firing home a shot from the top of the box in the 4th minute.
  • At the 20' mark, Memphis set up for a free kick that was played into the back of the net by Maxi Galizzi to make the score 2-0.
  • Right at the start of the second half Temple hit the cross bar on a shot, which would have cut the Memphis lead in half.
  • On the last play of the game Temple hit the post, which preserved the shutout. 
NOTABLES
  • Galizzi increased his team-high goal count to four, with all four coming in the last five games.
  • McCallum's goal was his second of the year.
  • Colin Welsh saved three shots in goal.
  • The shutout win is Memphis' first of the season and first since a 1-0 blanking at UConn on Oct. 4, 2019.
  • The Tigers have now allowed just one goal in their last 180 minutes of play, with that goal coming by No. 8 Tulsa.
  • Memphis has now won back-to-back games at Temple.

  • The Tigers' road trip continues Sunday at UCF at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
  • Memphis then returns home to play SMU at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9.
