NAPLES, Fla. — A home health aide was arrested on Tuesday and faces five charges related to a scheme to defraud and exploit an elderly person, officials said.
Victoria Fayiah is accused of stealing blank checks from an 87-year-old patient she was caring for, officers with the Naples Police Department said. The checks were stolen in November 2020, the victim said.
Fayiah allegedly used the stolen checks to deposit $34,000 into her personal bank account without permission, officers said.
The former health aide faces five felony charges:
- Exploitation of Elderly/Disabled Adult $10,000 – <$50,000
- Obtaining property by fraud (scheme) $20,000 – <$50,000
- Fraudulent use of personal identification information of 60 year old adult or older
- Grand theft from a person 65 years old or older $10,000 – <$50,000
- Exploitation of elderly/disabled adult $10,000 – <$50,000
