ALL OR NOTHING: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Stream on Amazon. Tottenham Hotspur, an English Premier League soccer club located in North London, endured two major upheavals last season: the replacement of its manager Mauricio Pochettino with José Mourinho, and the suspension of league play because of the coronavirus pandemic. This documentary series provides a peek behind the scenes during these difficult periods. Some fans and commentators were skeptical about the decision to hire Mourinho because his managerial style diverges sharply from Pochettino’s, which was successful for several years. After an inconclusive sixth place finish in July, the jury is still out about the choice. Perhaps this series will give a sense of how the coming season will play out.

MATTHIAS & MAXIME (2019) Stream on Mubi. Xavier Dolan’s most recent film is about the repercussions of a staged kiss between friends. At first, Max, a soft-spoken bartender played by Dolan, doesn’t appear to be bothered by the smooch, which is performed for a student film. He’s focused on preparing to leave Montreal for Australia. Matt, however, finds the experience disorienting, in part because he has a girlfriend. His strong reaction soon snares his friend, who is bewildered but intrigued by Matt’s struggles. In her review for The New York Times, Jeannette Catsoulis singled out Anne Dorval’s performance as Max’s abusive mother for special praise. “She’s a harpy in a housecoat, wheedling for money and hurling hard objects,” Catsoulis wrote. “Every time she appeared, my spirits lifted.”

CASINO ROYALE (2006) Stream on Netflix and Hulu; rent on Amazon, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. Daniel Craig made his debut as James Bond in this adaptation of Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel of the same name. In her review for The Times, Manohla Dargis commended the actor and Martin Campbell, the film’s director, for successfully updating the tone of the long-running franchise for the 21st century. “Every generation gets the Bond it deserves if not necessarily desires, and with his creased face and uneasy smile, Mr. Craig fits these grim times well,” she wrote. The movie’s plot is also fitting for a timely reboot: A double assassination earns Bond a promotion and, with it, “license to kill.” Newly empowered, he takes on the villainous banker Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) with the help of Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), a British treasury representative, and Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), a C.I.A. agent.

AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR 8 p.m. on NBC. Before the new season of this athletic competition show debuts on Sept. 7, some of the best contestants from past seasons will square off in notoriously difficult tests of balance, strength, speed and coordination. The evening will include two separate competitions, one for individuals and one for teams. The teams were selected by the show’s hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Matt Iseman and Zuri Hall. Last year, Iseman’s group was victorious. He’s surely hoping that the three seasoned veterans he chose for this event — Michelle Warnky, Karsten Williams and Ryan Stratis — can deliver him a second consecutive win.
