Longmont City Council supports demanding Weld County to comply with state’s COVID-19 orders
Patti Brown Zlaten: We need to consider taking our city back and become “Longmont” again. As a city we do not dictate to other county commissioners what is best for their county. What is our business is when we ban campers, RVs, etc., not to park on the streets of our city with absolutely no plan on where they can go. Wake up people of Longmont and remember we were people of compassion, respect, and love. I want to see that city again.
Laura Stehle: I think Weld County residents just need to refuse to spend a dime in Boulder County. It’s cheaper to go to shop a little south. I refuse to cross the county line unless I have to for work or my son’s school. Maybe they should be worried about all the needles in the bathrooms at the parks.
Suzanne Frazier: It’s scary to shop right now worrying about standing next to someone from Weld County, someone who doesn’t wear a mask except when they have to in Longmont.
Anna Bruce: Imagine being so selfish you don’t take precautions, fill up your hospital beds and then demand you get all the other hospitals beds too, because of your own negligence.
Nick Preston: Weld County is just gonna do what Weld County does. Screw it all up. Darwin Award winners everywhere up in Weld.
Rick Accountius: So Longmont City Council is now suggesting punitive action against other counties? What’s next? A county line wall? It appears, in this pandemic, City Council has no room for compassion.
Ryan Kragerud: So … is this a clause in the annexation agreement, intergovernmental agreement, memorandum of understanding, ROW maintenance agreement, shared emergency service agreement, or are we simply annexing all of Weld County? And if so, when will NextLight be available?
Carol O’Meara: Why isn’t anyone on these comments talking about lobbying the Weld Commissioners to comply with state Public Health requirements? Why is it all just outrage and bashing Longmont for its political pressure to accomplish that? Can no one here see that Longmont is applying political pressure for what is considered the greater good?
Michael Connolly: Is this not just like someone else’s mom telling you what to do?
Ken Buck defends Colorado’s election system against ‘conspiracy theory,’ angering fellow Trump supporters
Dana Talusani: The day I am amazed at Ken Buck. How about that.
Jim Davies: Buck shows some cojones, surprise! I guess because he is elected by the same system it shouldn’t surprise. Maybe I should say he is supposedly elected, because some are not accepting our system.
Martha Lauer Cowley: Nice to stand up for Colorado and our election process. Colorado works hard so the voters don’t have to suffer for a political ploy. Democracy works when the vote is supported, not oppressed.
Valerie Bartell: Good. He should. He won the election here. What would that say if he didn’t back the election process?
David Brown: Yeah, Darryl Glenn lost by 4.7% and no one knew who he was. Cory Gardner supposedly lost by 9.3% and everyone knew who he was — one of the most bipartisan senators in the U.S. Senate against a guy who was at the very least ethically challenged and couldn’t care less about it. Doesn’t seem quite right, and if Dominion Voting Systems weren’t used in 62 out of 64 counties in Colorado, I wouldn’t think anything of it.
Firestone sports bar reopens indoor dining despite state enforcement
Ronald Pope: Good for them. We all need to stand up for our rights. If you don’t want to go then don’t. Live your life in fear around your toilet paper and all the other stuff you’re hoarding. Don’t be taking other people’s rights away.
Meg Andrew: Restaurants need to open up and stay open! If people can go Black Friday shopping and stand in line then restaurants can be open!
Linnea Burson: I’ve never eaten there because the menu looks like crap, but now I know I won’t be eating there, even though they are only blocks from me. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got a list of Firestone businesses to not solicit.
Devin Quince: More of the law and order crowd.
Lynnette Stephens: I totally support this business. And I support everyone who wants to avoid it.
BTW, all of you up in arms about the restaurant being open have been to Home Depot, Walmart and Sam’s. You willingly support the demise of small businesses
Annual Logmont traffic report shows uptick in fatal crashes
Thomas Andersen: Cars are safer, drivers running red lights, failing to yield right of way, doing what is fastest for themselves, and simply not being engaged in driving is definitely on the rise.
Devin Quince: Duh.
Kevin M Seaney: And this a surprise?
Scott Conlin: Well we are against enforcing speed and going through lights at our biggest intersections, so this is not a shocker.
The East Troublesome fire is 100% contained
Barbara Holloway: Hallelujah
Chris Kelly: Thanks aren’t enough to the superior men and women who have fought this monster.
Debbie Vigil: Thank God! Thanks to all the firefighters who worked so hard.
