Also available are more movies (Shrek, Children of Men, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, among others) and more library television titles (including Everybody Loves Raymond, Law & Order: SVU, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist). For Peacock Premium subscribers, new episodes of current NBC programming will become available the day after airing on the linear network.
How Can I Watch Peacock?
At launch, Peacock is available through both Apple and Google devices, Microsoft’s Xbox One family of devices, and Vizio SmartCast TVs and LG Smart TVs. (This, in addition to being available to Comcast and certain Cox Contour subscribers via a cable subscription.) According to NBC, the streaming service will become available on Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro by July 20.
Can I Watch Peacock on Roku or Amazon?
Not yet. NBCUniversal has not made deals with Roku or Amazon to include the service on those popular digital video platforms.
What TV Shows Are on Peacock?
A whole bunch of stuff, including current NBC series such as Saturday Night Live (every episode from season 40 onward, including the infamous Donald Trump episode), The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Seth Meyers, Superstore, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, New Amsterdam, Manifest, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. But Peacock will also feature tons of library favorites, like full series of 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Cheers, Frasier, Parenthood, Columbo, The Carol Burnett Show, Everybody Loves Raymond, Downton Abbey, Murder, She Wrote, Two and a Half Men, and King of Queens. (Peacock also includes many episodes of Law & Order, but not the entire series.)
What Movies Are on Peacock?
Lots of quality films are streaming on Peacock, including Do the Right Thing, Atonement, Fast & Furious and Fast and the Furious: Toyko Drift, a handful of Alfred Hitchcock classics like Vertigo and Psycho, The Sting, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Reservoir Dogs, and Jurassic Park, to name but a few.
Is The Office on Peacock?
Not yet. Currently, Netflix holds the streaming rights to full episodes of The Office, but the former NBC comedy will become part of Peacock in January 2021. To tide users over, there is a Peacock Channel called Office Shorts that includes clips from the show.
How Is Peacock Different From Netflix?
Well, for starters, Peacock has Peacock Channels, which are curated content hubs across a wide spectrum of topic areas that stream 24/7 and basically replicate the linear television experience. In addition to a channel devoted to The Office, there are Peacock Channels focused on NBC late-night shows (individual channels devoted to vintage SNL as well as Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers), NBC news programming, true crime, 1980s shows, and even Unsolved Mysteries, the long-running NBC series that is now a phenomenon all over again, thanks to Netflix. Another channel, TODAY All Day, features both new content and archival pieces from the long-running NBC morning show.
Another difference between Peacock and Netflix (as well as its other streaming competitors, like Hulu and Disney+) is a focus on content beyond movies and TV shows. App users will notice a trending section that includes news highlights sourced from NBC News and the Today show, among other NBC properties. There is also sports content, like Premier League soccer highlights. In the future, once sports leagues in the United States can safely resume following the coronavirus pandemic, Peacock will feature the NFL’s new Wild Card Playoff Game and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
What’s the Best Movie on Peacock?
Peacock includes a number of all-time Hollywood classics (although maybe not enough to rival the recently launched HBO Max, which leveraged Turner Classic Movies and the Criterion Channel to great success). So let’s highlight one of those aforementioned Hitchcock stunners, 1958’s Vertigo, the master of suspense’s indisputable masterpiece of toxic obsession and male delusion.
