kosongkosonig.blogspot.com
DURHAM, N.C. --  Over the last two weeks since Kara Lawson was named Duke women's basketball head coach, many former Blue Devil men's and women's basketball student-athletes, ESPN personnel, Duke staff, NBA personnel, etc., have shown their love for Lawson coming to Durham, N.C.

Over the next couple of weeks, GoDuke.com will be unveiling quotes from the outpour of congratulations.

Part Two:

"We're ecstatic that Kara Lawson will be a part or the Duke coaching family. Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with her about Duke and specifically the women's basketball position, and came away very impressed. During that conversation, Kara's passion for basketball stood out so much. One cannot ignore who her mentors have been along the way, from Pat Summitt in college to Brad Stevens most recently with the Celtics. As an outstanding player herself both in college and the WNBA, Kara will be able to relate to the elite young women and their families who will consider Duke as their college destination. Our administration made an outstanding hire by bringing Kara to Duke."

Mike Krzyzewski
Duke University Head Men's Basketball Coach

"Hey Kara, welcome to the Blue Devil family. When I found out that you were hired as the new head coach, I was super excited. I've always respected your game and your knowledge of the game. I cannot wait to see what you do with Duke women's basketball."

Lexie Brown

"Coach Lawson, that has a nice ring to it. I just wanted to say congratulations to Kara on becoming the Duke head women's basketball coach. Wishing you much success."

Seimone Augustus

"Hi Kara, welcome to Duke. I am Georgia Schweitzer Beasley, which is Dr. Beasley now. I played from 1997-2001. I am currently a surgeon at the Duke Cancer Center and a cancer researcher. We are really excited to have you here and wish you the best. We have a lot of pride in our women's basketball program. I am always available to help with anything you need and really look forward to seeing you and helping you in any way that I can. So, good luck and Go Duke!"

"Hey Kara, I am so happy and I am so excited that you got this Duke job. Ever since I played with you on the Mystics you were an amazing teammate. So, I know these girls are going to be so luck to have you as their coach. Good luck to them. She's a really hard coach, but I'm really, really happy for you, Kara. So, good luck!"

Steph Dolson

"Hey, it's Jasmine Thomas. I want to welcome Kara Lawson to the Duke family. I am super excited about the future of Duke women's basketball under your leadership. You have my full support and I wish you the best of luck. Go Duke!"

Jasmine Thomas

"Two words best describe Kara Lawson: winner and leader.  She was the ultimate student-athlete and is a winner in every area of her life. She earned the Torchbearer award, UT's highest academic/leadership honor, and went on to become a member of the board of trustees. Great hire by Kevin White at Duke. I am extremely proud of Kara, and I know Pat is smiling in Heaven."

Joan Cronan
University of Tennessee Women's Athletics Director Emeritus

"April 2010, my professional career began with the Connecticut Sun, and Kara was very pivotal in how I navigated my way through on and off the court as a pro, alongside Asjha Jones. On every team you have that person that makes you feel secure and remain confident, in game, and Kara was that for me. Kara got the best out of me and I know she will do the same for everyone she crosses path with at Duke."

Tina Charles, Washington Mystics
2012 WNBA MVP

"What's up, it's Mikayla Boykin here, congratulations, Coach Kara on becoming our new women's basketball head coach. I'm so thankful that you decided to take this opportunity. I can't wait to play for a legend such as yourself. I can't wait until we all get back to Durham, get in the gym and get out there and do what we got to do on the court and off the court. Once again, congratulations and I can't wait to see you in Durham. Let's go!"

Mikayla Boykin
Duke Women's Basketball Rising Junior

"I am so proud of Kara. I learned so much from here while we were playing together. She is one of the smartest players ever, she was our coach on the court. She is also one of the most genuine and funny people, Duke is lucky to have her!"

Emma Meesseman, Washington Mystics
2019 WNBA Finals MVP

"The first day I met Kara I felt like I had known her for years. I have a tremendous amount of  respect for her as an Olympic Gold medalist, WNBA Champion and an outstanding broadcaster. Once we became friends, she taught me so much about the game of basketball and more importantly, life. Her perspective is so thought provoking and nuanced. ?Kara doesn't know this, but every time we speak, I come away feeling smarter just listening to the amount of knowledge she offers. My friend is a trailblazer on so many fronts. Now, she will lead the Duke Women's Basketball program to another level of excellence. I congratulate my friend, Kara Lawson, who is once again changing the game of basketball."

Chris Miller
Washington Wizards sideline reporter

"Listen, I'm sure I'm just repeating what far more distinguished and successful people have already said, so my apologies. I would say that I've been fortunate to be around so many wonderful thinkers about the game of basketball. People of great intelligence and scope and vision. I hold none in higher esteem than I do, Kara Lawson. Kara's pedigree is as impressive as anybody you'll find in basketball. She has it as a player, as a commentator, as a coach. She's done it at the collegiate level, the professional level, the Olympic level, she's done it for Men's teams, she's done it for Women's teams. Everybody who has been around Kara Lawson has raised a level of their game, whatever that game may be because of her. And I am so thrilled for this accommodation, for Duke Women's Basketball to have somebody like this representing them. So, congratulations Duke, congratulations Kara. I even threw on a blue shirt for this."

Adam Amin
Chicago Bulls Television Voice, Former ESPN Television/Radio Analyst

"I am so thrilled for Kara and her family to become members of the incredible Duke family. There is no question that Kara is ready to bring on new energy and excitement to Duke women's basketball. My family and I wish her and her family the very best in her journey and her move to this wonderful community. We will always be cheering for Duke women's basketball and for all the great folks at Duke!
Congratulations Kara! Enjoy every moment with these amazing women."

Joanne P. McCallie
Former Duke women's basketball head coach

"Kara has had significant involvement with USA Basketball throughout the years. She started as an athlete when at Tennessee, became an Olympic gold medalist, served as a committee member and a coach/advisor for many of our USA 3x3 National Teams.  Her impact with us has been tremendous and I have no doubt she'll have the same success as the new women's basketball head coach at Duke."

Jim Tooley
USA Basketball CEO

"Hey you guys, I just want to say congratulations to Kara Lawson becoming Duke's next head coach. I couldn't be more excited for the future of the program. Shout out to Duke for picking such a great basketball mind. I'm excited for the future and hopefully I'll be able to come to some games, but until then congrats, Kara and Go Duke!"

Chelsea Gray
WNBA Champion, Former Duke All-American

"Kara has contributed to USA Basketball and the women's program in so many ways - as an athlete, committee member and 3x3 coach/advisor.  From the earliest team at the 1998 World Youth Games through the 2008 Olympics, she was a leader on and off the court.  New to the 3x3 discipline, she studied the game and worked extremely hard to position our teams for gold-medal success.  Kara has consistently succeeded in USA Basketball roles and will now take that measure of success to Duke."

Carol Callan
USA Basketball Women's National Team Director

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Kara Lawson to the Duke Family!  Kara is a passionate, energetic, and genuine leader that has experienced great success in everything she has done in her career thus far. Her journey from college, to the WNBA, the broadcasting booth, USA Basketball and most recently the NBA demonstrates her undeniable ability to achieve at the highest levels. We look forward to Kara's leadership and impact on past, present and future Blue Devils."

Nina King

"Congrats K Law on getting the Head Coaching job at Duke. I'm sure you'll do amazing things. I know you still bleed orange though. In all seriousness congratulations and I wish you the best of luck."
